CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
AHIMA's 2008 Assembly on Education Summer Symposium and Faculty Development Institute (July 12-16, 2008)

The deadlines to enter new abstracts and to edit existing abstracts have been reached.
The submission form will consist of 5 steps.
Title
Enter the Title and your email address. Add comments to organizers if there are any.
Category
You will select the type of paper you are presenting- which topic does the paper cover?
Curriculum Content
Includes such things as: topics on Coding, Legal, eHIM, etc. Entries in this category are strongly encouraged to attach a lesson plan with the content presentation to assist new faculty with incorporating the speaker’s content into their curriculum. Speaker will receive full credit as author of the lesson plan in the CourseShare Project.
Educational Delivery Methods
Includes distance/online learning, laboratory activities, professional practice experiences, Virtual Lab implementation and other methods to deliver and reinforce learning outcomes.
Evaluation methods to measure student learning outcomes.
Faculty Development
Includes such things as: how to set up a new program, how to be more effective in the classroom, how to keep students engaged throughout their professional program phase, and how to run successful PPE sites.
Getting the maximum commitment from your Advisory Committee
What new program directors need to know to be compliant with CAHIIM standards, understanding APAR reporting
Promotion and tenure issues.
Leadership/Best Practice
Includes such things as: reaching out to college administration, grant sharing with other allied health programs, taking on leadership roles in the community college and university, creating master programs
Taking technology to the next level – using online technology to engage students (demonstration based)
Assuming roles of leadership at AHIMA: standing committees (such as CAHIIM, ESC, ACCP, etc)
Cross-discipline collaborations.
HIM faculty leadership presence on campus.
International HIM college/university initiatives.
Research
Includes such thing as: cutting edge research in HIM topics that can be assimilated into the classroom, also provides a forum for doctoral candidates to present their dissertation highlights.
Author/Presenter
You will enter information about each author, including Name, Address and Institutional Affliations.
Abstract Text
You will enter your abstract text. The text must include the following headers:

Results
Conclusions
The text (not including the headers) should be less than 1000 words.
