The deadlines to enter new abstracts and to edit existing abstracts have been reached.
The Program Committee for the AHIMA Computer Assisted Coding Summit on April 14, 2010 in Washington D.C invites you to submit papers for presentation.
The Summit will provide the latest updates, trends and technology breakthroughs involving the code assignment and information abstraction process. Both papers and posters are encouraged for this event. Suggested completed paper length is five pages and the maximum length (including references, tables, figures and graphs) is ten pages. The maximum length for the abstract is 1000 words. A template will be provided for accepted poster submissions.
The submission form will consist of 5 steps.

Select from the categories suggested below. Example topics listed under each general topic are encouraged but all original submissions will be considered
Regulatory/Legislative/Compliance issues impacted by computer assisted coding (CAC) software use. For example:
Impact of CAC technologies on the implementation of ICD-10-CM or ICD-10-PCS
Professional coding liability – is it different when using CAC?
Fraud detection and auditing for monitoring and evaluation of reimbursement accuracy
Does CAC assist in responding to the RAC (recovery audit contractor) activities?
HIM professional practice issues impacted by CAC. For example:
Productivity issues associated with CAC
Training for use of CAC tools in HIM programs
Use of CAC tools in remote coding environments
Coding and abstracting consistency monitoring using CAC tools
Revenue management/reimbursement impact of CAC use or barriers to widespread adoption of CAC tools. For example:
Case studies in legitimate reimbursement optimization with software assist tools for documentation improvement and/or code selection
Prospective payment impact of using CAC (MS-DRG or APC results)
Can CAC identify issues for potential review to improve clinical documentation and/or assist in appeals?
